P7 Dalguise – Day 4

Started the day with another tasty cooked breakfast selection before heading off to the giant swing and jacob’s ladder courses.

Lunch was soup, and baked potato with a choice of fillings and everyone has been eating well to keep their energy up. If there have been choices children didn’t like they have also been able to make up a few of their own sandwiches instead.

The teamwork theme in the afternoon continued with a challenge course and some rifle shooting which has been really good fun. The rain has even stopped for a bit!

All rooms have been brilliant at getting tidied, organised and they are already set up for tonight’s Disco and packing for tomorrow morning. Night routines/sleep has also been really good and improving day to day!

The groups are just about to finish activities and get scrubbed up for souvenir shopping, tea and then the big disco event!!

We are packing first thing tomorrow after breakfast and then we will go for a hike/walk. Lunch will be at twelve and we will aim to depart at 1pm. Our expected return will be at 3.30pm.

School will groupcall parents after our stop in Stracathro which should mean that our bus is around 1hr from returning to school.

Looking forward to a fun final night!!!

P7 Dalguise – Day 3

After a cooked breakfast the groups started today with the zip slide and wall climbing. This was enjoyed by all and the children were working really well in their groups/teams.

After our lunchtime baguettes the groups learned how to build a shelter and make a fire in ‘survivor’. We also took part in canoeing and despite the heavy rain most of the children were still keen to jump into the boating pond.

Tea time came round quickly and after our choice of gammon, fish cakes or pasta we headed off for some games and then a quiz.

All rooms are fully into the room inspection/tidy, tuck shop, bed time and lights out routines. The children are very settled for sleep by 10pm and preparing for next day activities (and are keeping their rooms really tidy – we have photo evidence!!).

Time now flying by…more updates tomorrow!!

P7 Dalguise – Day 2

Woke this morning very early to a nice cooked breakfast and then headed out to the trapeze and abseiling.

Weather great in the morning but soon turned to rain by the time we had our pasta lunch.

Pretty drenched during problem solving and orienteering this afternoon – some tiredness signs creeping in by mid afternoon! Our tea of chicken nuggets, chips and veg was particularly popular.

After finishing our visit to tuck shop and tea, we had some parachute games and a campfire sign-a-long which featured some very funny songs (still plenty rain showers).

Children are now headed for showers or straight to bed and most are in favour of an earlier lights out due to being so tired!

More to follow tomorrow evening…

Dalguise P7

We have arrived safely and everyone is having a great time together. Settling in really well!

Stopped at Stracathro for a snack, visited Camperdown Wildlife Centre and the weather even brightened up for a play in the park.

Arrived at 3pm and got a tour of the site and had a nice tea of carrot soup, sausages or fish with veg and flapjacks.

Now at games before our evening activity called ‘Ambush’.

More posts tomorrow when we can get on wi-fi and post up some photos!!!

Community Consultation Invitation

Please see the information below for the event to be held at Oldmachar Academy on Monday the 20th June, 6.30pm-9pm.

This event is for all those who reside, work and play in Oldmachar and all those who provide a service for Oldmachar to take part in a discussion to evaluate the quality of Oldmachar as a place and to help participants to identify priorities for the area.

Research shows that the places where we spend our time have an important impact on our lives. The way a place looks, functions and feels can influence our health and wellbeing, and the opportunities we have access to. Improving the quality of places can help to tackle inequalities.

Understanding the existing and potential strengths of a place can inform good decision making, allowing resources to be targeted to where they are most needed. This will help deliver better results over the long term.

For example;

Are there enough routes for walking and cycling? Are these given priority over cars and other traffic as much as possible?

Do routes provide obvious and direct links with the places that people want to go, such as schools, shops, parks and public transport?

This along with many other questions will be facilitated on the 20th June. We would encourage any interested community partners or residents to attend and encourage you to please pass on this invitation to any other relevant or interested parties.

Many Thanks,
